about

reworking of "Target" by Fugazi; contains samples thereof; samples also from Flanders and Swann.

I have a real hatred of guitars. And 4/4 time. And rock. And straight white men playing them. Re-performing normative behaviour that contains the oppression of all non-straight, white, cis-men...

I also love a lot of music that has guitars in. This hatred, while having a real effect on my enjoyment (or lack thereof) of particular musics, mostly exists as a somewhat abstract political ideal (or, indeed ideology).

As Micheal-Jane said, Fugazi may well have written this line so that I could sample it. It has everything, including an ironic, self-loathing, while still playing out one's passion, and self-awareness of the dubious politics of one's actions, and an inability to do nothing. Or maybe I read too much into this?
